  A massive Bala Ganesha greet you as you enter. The deities Shiva and Vishnu face each other, while in the centre is Veerabhadra. I walk around and the Natyamantapa lures me . This is where the Gods make music .Brahma is on the cymbal, Narada on the tampura, and Shiva in his Nataraja avatar amongst other heavenly artists. Mesmerising us with their instruments, costumes and ornaments, they seem to create divine melodies .The sun’s rays touch the large sculptures in the unfinished Kalyanamantapa of the temple. Skywatch Friday – Entry to ancient Warangal Fort 8

Warangal Fort is a settlement in old Warangal town in Andhra Pradesh. The capital of the Kakatiya dynasty more than 1000 years ago, Warangal is filled with beautiful sculptures, some of them in absolute ruins. However you can find the Kirti Toranas or the gateways, which are tall pillars that mark the cardinal directions around the fort area. You can read my story on Warangal here in Yahoo. 2011 Flashback – Sannathi Excavated 1

A Buddhist stupa that dates back to 3rd  century BC with sculptures that shows portraits of kings, ancient stupas and stories from Jataka Tales is probably one of the best destinations I have ever visited in 2011. The stupa which was excavated near Gulbarga is being restored painstakingly by historians and ASI and will soon be seen in all its pristine glory as it was more than 2000 years ago.
